Rebranding for a Larger Audience

The JoCoCruise is an eight-day Caribbean cruise featuring music, comedy and performers. The cruise is headlined and curated by Jonathan Coulton, known for his music celebrating geek culture, science fiction and gaming.

After a few seasons of very successful cruises, JoCoCruise decided to rebrand in an effort to expand their reach to new cruise goers. While the previous brand overtly celebrated Internet culture, the new brand, in an effort to broaden the potential audience for the cruise, shifted to visual references of classic early twentieth-century sea travel. As part of the rebrand, JoCoCruise needed an updated web presence that reflected the new brand direction.

Functional Site for Key Screen Sizes

As the majority of the JoCoCruise audience is technology focused, it was of importance that the web presence was as functional as possible at all screen sizes. The solution was to design a responsive site for larger screens, and a mobile-specific adaptation for smartphones and devices.

A significant improvement with the new designs was to enhance the potential traveller’s interaction with the cruise. This included an expanded view of the performers and artists on the cruise, an interactive map detailing each port of call, as well as simple and prominent contact information and frequently asked questions.
